The selection and design of UPS batteries for data center must fully take into account the characteristics and development trends of modern data centers, and meet the following criteria: short-term constant power output characteristics outstanding short-term (generally ≤30min) constant power output characteristics. This implies that the battery capacity can be reduced while meeting the same load backup time requirements, then the battery cost can be minimized.
Alternately, battery equipment with the same capacity can be selected. The total backup time of UPS system can be extended, high energy density can be selected with appropriate battery type and capacity, reasonably designed assembly structure, optimized use of room space, and further improved overall energy density of battery pack, which is conducive to reducing IT room area and cost.
During the useful life of high safety/stability batteries, the fault rate should be kept minimum to prevent repairs or replacements due to fault or sudden failure of a single battery. This is of great significance for the later safety and stability of the entire battery system. The UPS battery shell plastic raw materials for flame retardant data center should meet V0 specification for flame retardant.
All exposed metal parts of battery terminals, connectors, and output bus terminals should be fully insulated and protected. The battery rack must be grounded. Consistency of capacity, open circuit voltage, and floating charge voltage of the individual cells of UPS battery pack in the consistency data center should meet the requirements in applicable specifications. The UPS battery pack racks in the seismic data center should meet the requirements of seismic intensity of 8, and the connection between the batteries is recommended to be flexible connection.
